For those of you that use this board, how would you feel about it being merged with another?

The current plan i have is to merge with /fic/ and /collab/ into a single board (With a tentative name of /fan/, for lack of any other ideas) , but i'm making all three of these threads simultaneously so that plan is subject to change.

The reason for this is that it would hopefully encourage more an audience for the artwork that gets posted, more critique for actual artwork itself and an all around signal boost for the artists themselves.
I think i just said the same thing three times there, but whatever.

Another benefit to merging with those two boards in particular is that /fic/ could provide inspiration for artists, while /collab/ may need a creative artist for whatever project is posted.
To me, it only makes sense to pool these resources together instead of having them scattered as they are now.

In any case, discuss the pros and cons of the idea in this thread.
I'll give fair warning before THE RECKONING happens, if it does at all.

I wouldn't be against the idea of the boards merging. Could be useful, given the points you made.
I can't think of any real downsides though.

Could maybe call it /cre/ as in 'creativity', or something though.

we need the old guard back. Whitefox, Bluelulz, Sagebrush, Azure Spark.
They'd have commented by now. They oversaw the care of this board, if I recall.

Well I do have a thread on this board, though it only has a few posts and hasn't been updated in nearly a year. I like the idea of /fan/ as long as the art threads in here aren't lost. I'm sure most of us have back ups of our art on DA, Aryion, Derpibooru, Furraffinity, or our own computers, but I would still like to have the archive for... reasons. Past that, I see no reason why this shouldn't happen.

/art/ is pretty dead most of the time.. it might be a good idea to group it with a larger board. I'm all in.

I would personally prefer to see /art/ remain it's own entity, but mostly out of sentimentality: a merging would probably do more good than harm for everyone involved.

I think one pertinent issue with this could be differences in rules and guidelines between the two boards... I'm not really familiar enough with the culture/regulations of /fic/ to hypothesize possible contradictions. It would be awkward to have two different rulesets for artists/writers on a single board, but art and writing are different enough to possibly require different rules for different situations.

As for a name, how about /create/? for creative creators and their creations.

I'm totally not dead: it was just that one time, I swear! X3

Also: been somewhat preoccupied with personal projects... looking to get back into critique+commentary, tho. We'll see.

Actually, I do have a concern: if there is significantly more activity in /fic/ than /art/ now, then merging the two boards would result in burying the /art/ threads under all the /fic/ material, which would actually end up resulting in less exposure for the artists.

This could be mitigated by an up to date and properly maintained directory, I guess, but the dir stickie often goes neglected for long periods... in my experience, at least: I've been away for a while.

I'm not sure about long term, but the stats for number of posts on /fic/ and /art/ are pretty equal at the moment.

46 on /fic/ to 50 on /art/ in the past 7 days.

it's good to see you back!

I mean, if you feel like there would be more activity, then go for it.

While I am new.
I don't have much against the idea.

The more rationalized the website is, the better.
