Australian feminists are getting GTA5 taken off store shelves.

Complaints about portrayals of baldfaced crime and violence might be legitimate, but the old spiel implying violence specifically against women is encouraged and rewarded is just as big a load of bullshit now as it was back in the Jack Thompson days.

“This is about torturing and the ritualised murder of women,” she told news.com.au. “It’s frightening that people are desensitised to it.”

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard this week, which is really saying something considering the UK just banned female orgasms.. First off, unless you remove it from literally everywhere, you've done nothing. If people want the game they're going to find it and buy it. They can get it off of Steam, they can import it, they can probably just buy it at several dozen other Australian stores.

Second, this isn't anything new. Not only has this game been out for quite some time now, but there's a whole series of games that came before it, and they're all just as violent.

Third:

>"Just knowing that women are being portrayed as deserving to be sexually used by men and potentially murdered for sport and pleasure — to see this violence that we lived through turned into a form of entertainments is sickening and causes us great pain and harm.”

Is this something that actually occurs in the game? Like even remotely? I haven't played it and don't intend to, because honestly I think it's brand of violence and thug crime is disgusting and I don't want any part of it. But I have doubts that there's actually any part of the game that portrays women as "deserving to be sexually used by men".

And even if there were, my response would still just be to avoid playing it, not censorship of any kind.

The worst part is that it all came from a Change.org petition.
I am skeptical about signing petitions cause I feel they do jack shit, but this one time it did work albeit for a stupid reason.

Luckily there's a petition to ban The Holy Bible from Target. Now, I am all for religious freedom, but gathering enough petitions for this will just show the hypocrisy of banning a video game/book/movie just because some people find it offensive and how that entitles them to stop other adults from buying whatever they damn well please.

It also promotes pedophilia, friendship, child murder, genocide, medical malpractice, poor hygiene...

It's pretty hilarious what the Bible condones.

My theory as for why female orgasms were outlawed in the UK is that the English Congressmen are so inept at pleasuring their wives that the idea of a woman enjoying sex is completely alien to them, and as such, they fear it.

You got to start somewhere so the next step would be to get it off the AU Steam database. You also can't import games on the "banned" list as customs will confiscate it in that country. I remember reading how somepony suggested they should hide copies of Mortal Kombat inside teddy bears so you would have to rip them open and take their insides out just like in the game itself.

In past ones pretty much any woman can become a prostitute by honking your horn. Drive some place and you have sex.

Their response would probably be along the lines of "well we don't partake in being raped, should we let that happen too?"
People believe that children are highly susceptible to the things they see/interact with and are prone to copying it because they're easily impressionable/retarded/bad parents that don't want to admit their child is a asshole or they're bad parents. That's why we have millions of little murderers running around in real life with P90's because they play COD.

BTW, you're missing out by not playing GTA. RockStar has some of the best writers.

Honestly, I vastly prefer Saints Row over GTA. I like for my protagonists to be funny amoral psychopaths rather than making me not want to play because playing will just get a throughly unlikeable human being more power and fortune.

I think maybe GTA tries to be "REAL THUG LIFE IN THE HOOD" a tiny bit too hard.

That's just one of the games.
Then a little bit of five.
