I've played all of Fallout 3.
Which game should I play next? Start from the begining with Fo1 followed by Fo2 or should I go straight to New Vegas?

Also, why is Fo:NV got more mods than Fo3? I would of thought Fo3 be more ideal choice for mods.

IMO all Fallout games are worth playing.

Fallout 2 was my favorite and Killap's Restoration Project mod only made it better.

I did enjoy Fo3. I dunno if I should move onto New Vegas as some reccomended or if I should play Fo1 where it all started.

Just move on to Fallout New Vegas and then work your way back.

I guess that can work, I just hope I won't be missing out on anything vital.

Also, why is there so many Fo:NV mods but only a few for Fo3?

I would of thought that since Fo3 has more traditional elements to the Fallout series that be more of an ideal choice.

Well, if you REALLY want to know whats going on with some of the lore concerning the NCR and mutants and other factions in New Vegas. You can play Fallout 1 & 2 but I found it made little difference to me.

Better engine and it doesn't use GFWL. I don't really think GFWL stops mods but it just seems people tend to mod those titles less, GTA4 aside that is.

I had ideas for Fo3 mods during Christmas time but they would be better off on Fo3 (Especially after Mothership Zeta) than Fo:NV.

I also find Fo:NV too "themed" with Nevada, casino themes and such like that. While I can't say Fo3 wasn't wasn't all that Americanized it wasn't of a specific theme and rather flexible.

Heh, that was a stinker. But it certainly wasn't abysmal.

Unless you have a wide-open mind, I recommend just going to FN:NV. Fallout 1 and 2 are isometric turn-based games that are both A: A bitch to get running properly these days, and B: Very slow-paced.

>>133349
I find FONV to be ten times better than Fo3, simply by virtue of offering a grand, cohesive world, and mostly balanced gameplay mechanics where Fo3 was just a giant post-apocalypse theme park that it took itself WAY too seriously, resulting in a game that was way too easy, with piss-poor RPG mechanics, and was somehow goofier than Fallout 2, which is almost a comedy game, with the major difference being that the goofiness there was intentional.

I'm not very fond of Fallout 3.

I won't compare with other Fallout games I've yet to play, but what I did like about Fo3 which Fo:NV didn't have was that while both games were about Post Apoclayptic America, Fo:NV is mostly about Las Vegas. Such as gambling, cowboys, stuff like that.

Fo3 feels rather "neutral". It isn't too much of a theme in particular other than being Post Apocalyptic America.
This is why I wonder why Fo3 doesn't have as much mods because it must be tough to come up with Fallout story mods and ask "What does Vegas has to do with it?"

It's why for >>133349 I chose Fo3 instead of New Vegas because you can reach Alaska from Mothership Zeta. If I try to replan my Christmas story for New Vegas I'll have to find a way to get the Courier to Alaska or have the Christmas theme vault located in Mojave for some reason.

I know of one Christmas mod for Fo:NV where you assist a man named Old Nicholas who wants a Christmas convention but eventually hookers and violence gets involved. I haven't mod any of my Fallout games yet to know the story behind it.

Still on the subject on Fo:NV, The Courier especially, it got me wondering.

Is the Courier a/the decendant of the first Vault Dweller and the Chosen One?
It's just ever since Benny failed to kill him, some of his memory is lost or that

There is two major evidence I have the support this.
The first is that Fo1 and Fo2 takes place in New California which is the neighbouring wasteland to Mojave. You cannot leave Mojave to see for yourself but instead you can go to the very edge of it and find this sign indicating it's a neighbouring region.

The second evidence is the "Classic pack" from the Courier Stash. Yes the Courier Stash is considered merely a bonus if you pre-order at certain retailers. However notice that the Classic Pack is the only collection that carries original equipment while the other packs have equipment that can e found across the wasteland? Not only that but the Armoured 13 Vault Suit appears much more worn and aged than Armoured 101 Vault Suit, this is because Moira Brown made the Armoured suit for a girl 10-12 years a go and she never picked it up while the first Vault Dweller left behind his vault 13 suit when s/he left Arroyo and could be passed down.

So yeah, I believe that the Courier could be a decendant of the main Fallout protagonists.
However, I don't believe that The Courier is directly related to the Bishop Family. Perhaps "Mr. Bishop" mentioned in Fo3:NV being the Couriers half-brother.

(This talk of this theory has given me an interesting idea for a mod DLC, if I can ever make it.)

Well, yeah, Fallout 3 is more of a "Place where there are fun things to do", while Fallout New Vegas is a more cohesive, complete world. It's up to you to decide what you think is more fun, I prefer more cohesive worlds, you like more straight-up fun.

>>133431
Eh... I don't like that idea. I just prefer to think that the courier is just a normal guy that had his badass parts jumpstarted when he got shot in the face.

If I ever decide to make my own Fallout DLC mod (I recently found this [geck.bethsoft.com]) I guess I could try find some way to have the Courier visit Vault 25 in Alaska for a Christmas adventure. But seems more possible for the 101 Vault Dweller to get there than the Courier. Though I haven't explored the entire wasteland yet.

Alternatively last night I had another idea for a DLC mod where you go to Fo1 wasteland and can unlock a secret questline if you have the Classic Pack. I can imagine access to it in Mojave Outpost.

But still these are just ideas. I don't wanna put too much on my plate I can't swallow.

But perhaps I'll give it more thought if it is possible for Fallout modders to go as far as to make there own DLCs, such as additional wastelands than simply interiors or dungeons.

Well they managed to mod the entirety of Fallout 3 into Fallout New Vegas, so it's possible.

Fo3 with New Vegas statistic details? Wow! Wonder if it's possible for Skyrim?

Also with so many Fo:NV graphics mod and many people and YouTube videos reccomending them, I don't know which is ideal.

I don't think so, since Skyrim uses a different engine.

As far as graphics go I just use New Vegas Redesigned, to make everybody look more like what they should look like (corpses look corpsey, sad and downtrodden people look dirty and disheveled, and so forth)

I downloaded my first mod today.

I've heard that the companion mod of Willow is real good and recommend. I decided to get her because while some prefer quiet companions, I've heard this one has a lot to say such as oppinions and such.

My only complaint is I find her a bit too optimistic, clean and pretty for a post-apocalyptic survivor. Such as perfect hair and clean skin etc.

Now I don't really need to do any fighting because Veronica, WIllow, JT and ED-E pretty much kill everything before I have the chance to help.

As far as optimism go, I don't mind that. Some people are just going to see the best in every situation no matter what. Though I do get some serious "phantasmal significant other" vibes from her... Like I'm not playing with a character, but rather, some nerd's lubricateory fantasy.

As far as companions go I prefer Craig Boone or Arcade Gannon. The former is a very well-characterized and deep loner with an almost suicidal thirst for legionary blood (and fuck those guys), and the latter is a socially awkward humanitarian with a dark origin.

I also like the cut of Raul's gib, but I don't get to play with him very often, due to the fact that he's located atop a mountain crawling with Super Mutants wielding very painful implements of death.

Really, I think Fallout New Vegas has some of the best NPC companions in gaming. I felt for each one of them, and I hate that I can only carry two with me. I wish Charisma worked like it did in Fallout 2, and allowed you to bring multiple companions with you if you had a high enough score.

For Willow or any companion, I don't mind companion romance (Kinda like a dating sim element in the world of Fallout), though when it comes to DLCs I wish she was more in character.

I got a bomb strapped around my neck in a place covered in hell-smog and phantoms and she's just humming away like a loon talking about Geckos.

Perhaps for Dead Money, llamaRCA could of hidden her somewhere easy to find in the Villa and she claims to escape capture and snuck in to follow the Courier. Perhaps some options encouraging her to escape for her safety in which she will return to "house" location or welcome her company and help. All the while her environment dialogue set to scared.

Still with over 600 dialogue lines though, llamaRCA did enough for the mod.

A Fallout modding question.

Instead of just additional Mojave content or even a custom made DLC, is it possible to make your own entire wasteland? Even make it accessable by "New Game" to give it own story and such? Fallout: New Vegas gameplay and engine still there just starring a new survivor in a new wasteland.

I'm asking because I doubt anypony else would want to make a wasteland version of England and I really don't want to join NexusMods just to ask this one single question.
