 Request to change the theme of /oat/ backTwo days ago, a thread was made on /oat/ asking me to post as Gilda for a week. to play along, i posted as her for an evening, but resumed regular posting the next day; i didn't feel comfortable with it, and felt pressured into it. In response, Fenolio said, more or less, that he felt disappointed, and that he would change the theme in /oat/ to Gilda the next day. i figured this was a joke, but it appears not to be. i do not know whether this is a joke or not, but if it is, i politely ask that it not be at my expense. if it's okay, maybe we could not do the theme anymore? Thank you for your understanding. |

NoneSerials: Do we need 'em?Hello, when I saw the proposal for the ponychan/mlpchan merger, one of the proposed boards was /chat/, or what is the current /gala/, rather. However, it seems that that serials are rather controversial. I believe that because serials exist, the /oat/ community is rather "shitposty", for lack of a better term. However, it seems that the people in the serials like the environment there; even though they claim they're just there because of the topic, serials are similar to the /oat/ community. Does the existence of /gala/ (or what will become /chat/) cause a fracture in the /oat/ community? I'd love to hear from people who are part of serials and people who don't like serials as well. |

Because it allows us users to gauge how contributive each person is to any sort of discussion. With good use of the upvote/downvote system, we can be able to correctly moderate ourselves while we represent what we want to be as a community together.  I keep getting this error whenever I post. I also can't seem to get "image zoom on hover" to work. I assume something I did with the settings got messed up? If there's any way to fix either issue, I'd like to hear it.I'm using Google Chrome and Ponychan X is on. The image zoom on hover functionality doesn't work regardless of whether Ponychan X is on or not. |

Considering what I have heard about staff not being able to keep much track of each other, I think have the name of the mod who did it next to the post is important for things like complaints, and reporting unwarranted warnings and bans. |

 Merge ProposalI know that this argument has been done to death, but it's worth bringing up again for discussion.For the past year or so, the site has been slow but stable. The user base has been constant, the drama has more or less died down, and we've been plugging along. But let's face it: the site's slow. We could really use more activity (says the guy who almost never posts). It's time to take a hard look at our options, and one option stands out pretty clearly: merging with the rest of the internet. There are approximately 3 billion users on the internet. Some of those are Ponychan users, so we will inevitably have some crossover, but that could still have a real impact. Also, some of those users would include John McCain, Prince, and the dude who owns Grumpy Cat. This would really help not just posting rates, but general awareness of the site. NoneAfter anonymous /oat/ runs it's course, why not make a /anon/ board where anonymous posting is always forced? This way there is at least SOME point to dividing the community further unlike with /chat/. It may even bring in some new people who don't particularly care for our namef\ag culture.  I’d like to reflect on the events that happened last week involving the board merges. Yes, it was a well-anticipated move that seems to finally conclude the /oat/-/chat/ proposal, and I see the intentions behind the tagging system. However, there were also complaints about the way the tagging was implemented. It’s inconsistent with the tags around the rest of the site, it doesn’t fall in the placeholder in the OP where it’s conveniently out of the way, and come to think of it, you can’t ctrl+f the tags to find them either. Overall, I really can tell that you were trying, and I don’t fault any of you for it, acknowledging that site coders just haven’t had the time recently. There’s nothing wrong with that.  Please remove Zeke's mod powers. He is not a mod anymore, and he should not be the one making these decisions. This isn't the first time he's done this either. He has also locked a thread that was technically breaking no rules in the past that was headed towards an interesting direction, albeit dramatic. But it's not like anyone actually needed to be protected in that thread. In fact, I bet the person who was the reason it ended up locked was just f*cking around. |
 Scale Back /meta/Deleting might be too far, but i think it is time to rethink /meta/'s place on the site, and scale it back tremendously.Posting on each board the relevant materials to each board works perfectly; see, the /dis/ deletion sticky... it would be much better if we limited what /meta/ could be used for even further... namely, limiting it to only site wide changes and questions, while leaving individual and board related questions to the boards or individuals via private messaging or e-mail. it seems to be a too little, too late measure, but it would help to scale back the negative atmosphere that meta has had on conversations... and maybe make for a more cooperative, inclusive feeling, rather than an exclusive one. /meta/ shouldn't have a meta community. no "meta ponies" clique... and while we no longer have one, maybe this could be a bulwark against future encroachment. what do you think? |

Just for a day or two. On the surface, this seems like the most idiotic idea possible. In fact, that is exactly what it may be. But doing it temporarily could encourage users of the different subcommunities to mingle and see what other subcommunities may actually be of interest to them. When the experiment is done, we can snap everything back to normal and regroup on /meta/ to discuss how it went. If all goes well, we bring the chan closer and increase site usage. The drama has increased - specifically on /oat/ - for a while now. I want to avoid another Bagsgate, but I believe the community is dying off. If ponychan doesn't change its behavior, this may spell the end of this site. A new person (or someone pretending to be a new person) joins this site periodically. Sometimes they might even post an OC. However, sometimes, they might give off an impression (or an OC) that people don't like and that prompts others to harass that new person. Even if that new person was trying to be kind and friendly, people will endlessly harass that person. It's not cool, it's not nice, it's just being an asshole.  The Other Boards...Almost not a week passes without talk of merging /chat/, or a thread about doing things to /oat/.Yet, what about some of these other boards? i understand /good/ is in limbo, a result of a failed effort to do community outreach. But i think we all need to take a good hard look at /collab/, /fic/, /art/, /g/, /dis/, /int/, /vinyl/, /merch/, and even /ooc/. at this point, none of these boards are even as active as /chat/ is, yet /chat/ is always at the forefront of our merger discussions. If inactivity and redundancy truly is the problem, should we not consider merging these first before targeting bigger boards? At least /chat/ gets a number of threads and over a hundred posts a week... /ooc/ might be a separate topic altogether, but roleplaying has certainly slowed to the point where we could merge the ooc threads with the general /rp/ (with their consent, of course). |
