I'm going to be called a grouch for this, but can we not have /oat/ change my theme to whatever that eyesore is every time I load the page?

It's really damn annoying. I don't care what pony we're celebrating, please don't set /oat/ to change themes from what I've set as my default.

Yeah, no worries. Having some sort of "Rarity day" is one thing, but fucking throwing up a theme override from what I've set is a whole other thing entirely.

Maybe, just maybe, I want to, I dunno, browse it at some point.

Maybe, just maybe, I click on /oat/ out of habit.

Maybe, just maybe, changing themes from what someone has set as their default is really short sighted and rude.

Like I said, it matters not which pony we're "celebrating" on that board. A sticky is enough; there's no need to add the forced theme change.

I can get rid of the fucking desktop ponies client side, but I can't stop it from forcing me into a pink frilly theme.

God damn it, it's just one day that isnt all that disruptive, on a single board.

Install Adblock > go to /oat/ so the rarity theme pops up, hit "open blockable items" and find the rarity.css entry on the list.

Right click that and add a filter, make sure it's specifically the rarity.css and not just /css

You'll have no theme at all on /oat/, but threads should revert back to your regular theme.

Reposting to the /oat/ thread.

Scratch that shit, it automatically reverts to your regular theme when you open a thread anyway.

Maybe you should have just not set it up to change the fucking theme, then. If I'm going to have no theme on /oat/ period and you're just not going to be decent enough to remove the forced theme change, I'm going to just avoid /oat/. I use a dark theme for a reason. I don't need a fucking bright white screen tearing into my eyeballs.

I have never seen this happen nearly to the degree people say pony fans do. Posting with a pony expression viewer in a forum isn't forcing it on people. Sure it happens, but like, people flamed/flame over ponies then blame it on the people a lot.

EDIT:

Does not work. This should though.

You can just right click -> inspect element on a non-oat page. Click sources. Then go to the CSS folder and it should have it. Copy link location and you'll have it.

Every time the mods try to do silly fun event-type things and put in the work to make something unique happen, someone will inevitably complain about it and create even more work for it. It's something I sympathize with.

Although his argument here hasn't made too much sense or is being backed up with any real reasoning other that "I don't like it cause it personally upsets me", he still has a right to complain about his disinterests on Ponychan.

He made a thread for this with his name and a picture of his OC in the OP, so you could do what Ember should do on /oat/ for that one measly day and just ignore it if you don't like it.

If there's a way to make it optional where you can turn it off, it could be an idea.

But it has to be more than a thread to announce it and people have to look for the rest themselves.
That's like throwing a party and saying "if you wanted music and cake, you should get your mp3 player and go to the bakery"

I'm pretty sure on Fluttershy day, people will bitch about threads being about Fluttershy anyways

Or like for Halloween one year, Orange only did something for like an hour in a /meta/ thread where not that many people knew about it (it was raining chocolate rain in thread, while he was !!Discord or !!Luna).

>>161376
Most of the time, yes. These sort of things rarely happen, so... I'd say it really isn't a problem when it's like that. As well as, it breaks up the monotony.
Again, you're trying to enforce your own opinion as fact against every one elses.

No I'm not. If a mod is going to play with stuff that fucks with the site for no reason other than fun, they should not be a mod.

Overall, I don't think it was that badly enforced.
Remained on /oat/ only on the front page.

That's probably why it was annoying that people complained about it.

That's not opinion, that's standard moderating procedure on every goddamn site.

You don't abuse your powers or you lose your tag.

But if the Admin/Owner/Whatever allows it, then it's up to their discretion. If Inkwell is alright with it, then it is an opinion. Not every site has to be enforced like every single one. If this site was enforced like others, the rules would be much, MUCH more strict.

>>161381
Pretty much.

Inkwell never posts. No one knows what his opinion was.

Besides, the fucking desktop ponies were enough. No need to create an eyesore by forcing my theme to change.

In most cases, you're correct! Being a moderator is a huge responsibility! There's a lot to being a mod, more than I expected when I became !!Pinkie, and I'm still finding new duties and things that I have to help take care of each day! And, yes, enforcing rules is probably the biggest chunk of the responsibilities that we have. We're entirely serious about that.

But we're still users, and we still like to have fun. If there were mods who fucked with the site every single day or something, then yeah, they need to go! But doing something with the code once every now and again? Embedding a video in a thread? Doing something silly under our mod tags every now and again? No, that's fine. We're allowed to do something fun, as long as we're not abusing our powers.

For today, it only changed the theme. I'm sorry if you didn't like the theme that it was set to, but you were not the only one who had to endure it, and there hasn't been any other big drama regarding today's events. What's more, it wasn't even for a full day! It's been changed back for a while now, and it's not like we turned it on at exactly 00:01. Besides, there were a lot more people who had fun with it than there were people who disliked it. I've only seen, like, three users complaining about it. Again, I'm sorry to those users who didn't quite enjoy the festivities, but we can't make everyone happy! I'm sure we'd have plenty of complaints if we stopped doing fun things like this altogether!

I apologize a third time if anybody, including the mods, were rude to you over the situation. But, to be fair, you haven't exactly been polite either. You started this whole thread off pretty badly. If you start being nicer to ponies, I'm sure they'll start acting nicer in return.

You have my word that Pinkie Day will be the biggest party that Ponychan has ever seen.

Zeke can easily ask him.

That's again, an opinion. Don't try to force your own opinion on others. Some people liked it, some people did not, but the ones who were fine with it outnumbered the ones who didn't like it. This isn't something that happens with great frequency. It's just one day. If you let things that small get to you, I don't know how you get through the day with things you don't like (*not meant as an attack).

Nimble. Talk to me on Skype, not on here. Then you can not put on an overly annoying persona because you feel the need to post as one of the most annoying characters I've ever had to watch.

Anger makes people hate you if that's how you come off with things like this.
Look at Nimble's words: "You started this whole thread off pretty badly. If you start being nicer to ponies, I'm sure they'll start acting nicer in return."

Letting your emotions getting the better of you is the best way to make people heavily dislike you. Being calm during a discussion or debate, is better than being angry or pissed during an argument. There's a difference between a debate and an argument. Debate is always the better way to go. You won't get anywhere if you just angrily bash your head into someone.

I don't post in-character unless I've got my mod tag on, and when I do, it's only when it would be appropriate for me to do so. If you're discounting my post because it was an "overly annoying persona," then you're referring directly to me. I don't really appreciate that.

I didn't start it off badly at all. I asked. Politely at that. Just because I got pissed after both Fenolio and Beat were rude doesn't mean I started that way.

Yes, but, you let your emotions run wild. You need to try to gain more control over yourself, calm down during those situations. If not, you're just going to antagonize people into a fight and what not, because you're asking for it. Be the better man, ask why they were acting rudely (in a calm manner) and again state what you would like. If you get a no, either walk away from the discussion calmly or present some evidence as to why you think this would benefit everyone, not just yourself.

Did you just call Pinkie Pie the element of laughter annoying when your whiny ass comes in here complaining that something isn't going your way? Is your head seriously that far up your own god damn ass? If you don't like the theme here's a tip change it you fucking genius. Holy hell
