If the staff could do something about the rampant child porn spam in /pony/, that'd be great.

These threads are spamming up meta more than the cp threads.

Shit, why didn't we think of this earlier?!
DOING something!

There isn't really much that can be done. They make exactly one post from one IP then never use that IP again. They don't use a set IP range either.

IP bans are incredibly easy to circumvent in this day and age.

Need to find some form of ban that blocks more than just IP address.

There's nothing that isn't fairly easily circumvented, considering that anyone can post without signing up etc. and can use proxies and change any metadata. There's ultimately nothing that can reliably identify an individual who's doing that. I don't imagine that holding posts from new IP addresses until the mods can approve them, for example, would prove very popular.

Which is why we need some type of ban that doesn't involve IP addresses.

Seeing as a majority of ponychan's spam is in /pony/, a simple bandaid fix would be to make new threads in /pony/ require moderator approval. We get like....one new thread per week, if that, so it wouldn't be that much of a hindrance. And of course, it would only be temporary until a better type of ban is implemented.

But really, /pony/ has been getting daily child porn threads for months now, sometimes upwards of 5 threads in a single day. Really want something to be done about it.

Like I said last time, Captcha is needed to stop this spam.

I don't even know what that would do, though.
It's not like you can trace down an anon on the internet easily.
Especially with ever changing IP addresses.

Captcha is useless if this is an individual doing it for the lulz. Which I highly think it is.

captchas would actually benefit in this station because the faggot posting CP is a bot. obviously

tho captchas are incredibly annoying. thats why i said it would be nice for it to appear for every new IP that posts on this site

We do actually report the websites the bot advertises fairly often. I know I do whenever I get the chance.

Maybe we could have a captcha just for creating a new thread on the targeted boards?

>>165424
No it wouldn't be useless, because it's a bot doing the spamming.

Captchas are literally useless if the bot-owner is dedicated to his spamming.

Whatever the staff did, it seems to be working. I haven't seen a CP thread in a week now.

Looks like I spoke too soon.
