maybe her story had to much of a fan base at the time. so they insisted their phantasmal significant other was real.

History is written by the winners.

So i have to guess Robyn hood's enemies won.
so they erased him from history, and turned him into a fictional character.

You cannot be this stupid.

As for the whole "exception to why things were shitty for women"... there's truth to the quote "Well-behaved women rarely make history."

Being a woman during that time period wasn't really that bad. I mean, it was shit, and some would say it's still shit today even with how much better it is, but it wasn't so bad that they didn't exist. People didn't keep women in cages that they occasionally entered to fuck with them. Women legitimately did things and were important to history. Joan of Arc isn't even the only major female military leader girl to make it into the history books, much less the only one ever.

Marie-Anne Charlotte de Corday d'Armont

While the vast majority of women throughout history were for various biological and cultural reasons remarkably useless in anything that didn't in one way or another involve them lying on their backs, there were shining examples of women matching and surpassing their male peers in other, more admirable things. When talents of such women reached certain heights the established and statistically true stereotypes of women had to give way to reality and the price of ignoring her became higher than the price of allowing the breaking of gender roles in her case.
