I don't want to sound racist and I don't really want
to start a huge thing ( though I'm sure it probably will ) but why do people always draw Rarity and
Twilight Sparkle Africanized?

Rarity seems she'd be the whitest person(pony) in
existence, I mean just look at her parents.. a horse
wearing a hawaiian shirt and her mom who's from
Minnesota, don't-cha'-know dear

And Twilight Sparkle with her whoa-like-totally
-dude brother ( Not saying there aren't black
people who are total bros, but it suits the white
stereotype much better ), and also with her super
straight hair, it doesn't make me think "Oh, Twilight
Sparkle would definately be of African-descent
if she was a human."

Don't you think it's just really arbitrary and forced
that she's being africanized so much? I mean why
not eskimo? Why not Cambodian? Human Twilight
Sparkle could be just as black as Zecora is white.
Or why aren't the other ponies black? Applejack?
She seems just as black as Rarity, but no one ever
draws her as anything other than white..

Pinkie being morbidly obese I could sort of under-
stand I guess? She eats a lot of cake.. but she is
super energetic and her character isn't fat, so that's
also one that's starting to get on my nerves as well..

But why are these super arbitrary things catching
on and becoming "a thing"? I don't think I'm the
only one wondering this because I've seen other
people discussing this, but I find it most relevant
here seeming how as horses, they're just horses.
As humans, people are forcing their own preferences
on these characters and make them look really
really REALLY weird and out of place, making me
ask this question: "Why?"

My Little Pony is not a racially diverse show and it's not terribly rich in character either considering all the characters that are even slightly developed are all just worn out tropes. It just does what it can with what it's got, and what it's got is a demographic from marketing.

Why is it more arbitary for lots of people to draw Twilight Sparkle and Rarity as black people than for lots of them to draw them as white people, given there's still a ton of humanized white MLP fanarts, and the vast majority of all pony depictions in this thread are white.

Maybe people like the dark skin and purple hair combination?

I think Rarity as a black woman makes a lot of sense. She's a small business owner who's into false eyelashes, trying to achieve some class advancement, and really feels the pressure of respectability.

This pic is my favorite pony human group, because they are all so beautifully in-character. Spoilered because underoos.
