I kind of hope that Twilight's Midnight sparkle form here is temporary; it just makes alicornism seem incredibly arbitrary if Human twilight becomes one permanently "just because" in the next movie.

I know they love adding wings onto characters because wings SELL bigtime with the target audience (Heck look at how they're plastered all over the nerf rebelle line of toys), but it just seems wrong to ascend human twilight right off the bat.

Well what do the forms even mean? They only seem to gain those forms when doing some sort of magic, and the only thing shown to be different between them are that the winged forms allow the person to fly. Other than that? There's been no difference shown between earth ponies, unicorns, pegasi, or alicorns, and earth ponies and unicorns don't even have anything to differentiate each other.

Because there's little difference, it seems like in Equestria Girls you just get to be whatever your pony counterpart would be.

Its still significant in a Power/individual's significance thing though.

Sunset's demon form was a winged alicorn demon for example instead of just a demon horse girl for example, because of the subtle significance that carried in viewers minds.

Similiarly, they made sure to have it be a Giant alicorn in RR that fired the laser instead of just a giant Unicorn for the significance that holds symbolically.





Its a combination of symbolic (implicit) and explicit power-- I think its still important and something the staff is cognizant of.

It was not a winged demon alicorn. It was just in Sunset's own words a raging she-demon, who was probably just given a wings because having her flying with wings looked better than having her do everything on the ground or having her just float in midair like a character from DBZ or Bleach.

And the giant alicorn is a different matter because that wasn't someone's pony form, that was a representation of a magical attack formed by the power of an alicorn, two pegasi, two unicorns, and two earth ponies. The three main races cubed into an entity that represents the three as one. But there's been no indication that the pony forms differ in abilities (Twilight was even the only one shown to be getting overpowered before Sunset Shimmer joined). Besides Sunset's first form trying to use the Element if Magic, which isn't even referred to as a pony form, just a demon, they probably can't change their race and become an alicorn or any different form and are just representing their Equestrian counterpart, regardless on if it reflects their true self. If it wasn't because of their Equestrian self then why should they be the same at all? Why wouldn't human Fluttershy be an earth pony or human Pinkie Pie a pegasus or any other variation other than this is what they are in Equestria. Human Celestia, Luna, and Cadence would probably be alicorns too.

There is no destiny about it. Every Alicorn achieved it by achieving perfect synergy with themselves and who they are. It is an elevated state of being.

How Cadence used compassion is left vague, likely because that would require going into more detail, and the book isn't about Cadence's backstory so we only get a summarized version.

I was referring to princess amore in the Journal of the two sisters, a different book. She created the entire Crystal empire when she found the Crystal heart and used her special talent of love to activate it.

You'd think if anything were grounds for a princess transforming into an alicorn, it'd be Amore, since that's loads more significant than Cadence's act to ascend.
