So, i was thinking what could be a problem with me and the show lately.

why im more exceptical than ever, even when there is no information to make me think something is going wrong, or something bad is comming.

So i have being watching others shows in the mean while. Steven Universe and Gravity falls.

and i think maybe a reason. Is that ponies give me that feeling that they are doing stuff just to fit a toy line, while this other shows make me wonder what are they going to do or going for. and i dont get that feeling of them making it for an uninspired reason.

It is unfair to compare FIM to others shows because at the end FIM is just a commercial tool and nothing else?

and how can i get the feel that FIM is really trying to go for something....while EqG doesnt help....

They're utterly useless for anything but fluttering around though, Rarity's stage presence aside, which is one of the most prized aspects of flight.

This episode has gone along way towards fans of the show viewing butterfly wings as a joke. Even if it was not the intention of the script, the episode still had a negative effect on how people view them.

>They're utterly useless for anything but fluttering around though, Rarity's stage presence aside, which is one of the most prized aspects of flight.
They work. They made Rarity fly rather well, and it seemed like she had at least average speed. She wasn't zooming all around, but Rarity would more likely show off grace than speed anyway, and it's not like she was Bulk Biceps slow.

>Even if it was not the intention of the script, the episode still had a negative effect on how people view them.
The episode not giving a good representation even if it wasn't the intention is different from
>the show staff actively mocked certain toys in their episodes
the same way how even though people made jokes about the ridiculousness of EqG what with going from magical ponies to high school, and using a popularity contest or battle of the bands contest to help determine the fate of the world, I don't think it was the writer's intent to mock the idea of the premise.

It's reasonable to expect good creator-driven kidtoons from Disney and Cartoon Network, but Hasbro? Maybe not so much, even if people like Lauren Faust were originally involved.

Have you seem the shitfit that they threw when the runner of Equestria Daily decided to make a Steven Universe sister site? They all fucking dogpilled him and threw a tantrum like fucking babies because "BRONIES WERE COMING TO TAKE OUR SHOW AND POLLUTE IT WITH PORN!", until the guy decided not to.

Congratulations shitheads, you screwed yourselves out of a fan site because of your irrational hatred of another fandom, morons.

Again, aren't you just judging the whole fandom based on subsections? Yeah, there's people in the SU fandom who don't want to associate with us, that doesn't mean every single fan is like that. I don't think you consider this fandom to be shitty just because we have people like Yamino who call Dərpy ableist or Dragondicks who makes fun of male fans.

Did you ever try to interact with the SU fandom beforehand, or did you only notice them after over a year since the show started because some fans were targeting the MLP fandom? Because the latter is like someone who's never interacted with Muslims before judging that they must be a violent criminal religion because their first impression came from hearing about al-Qaeda causing 9/11 attacks.

The show is good. so ignore the fandom if you please, and at best, get some art from places.

but stuff like fanfic and stuff, is kidn of dumb.

specially because the show do alot to flesh out their characters, to the point where making fanfics would be like lying to themselves.

Not everything from CN is bad, like Kids next door and Billy and mandy. But there have been many, many absolutely horrid shows from them in recent years that I have lost respect for them as being able to churn out high quality production consistently.

I'm not saying there's NO gems in it, just alot of their products have been terrible as of late.

Yeah, the part about TMNT being considered a crossover was a joke. It is an obvious parody (Cyborg even complained that booyakasha sounds too much like his catch phrase), though it was nice touch having Greg Cipes and Rob Paulsen play their respective 2012 turtle selves.

but i remember there was a KND and billy and mandy cross over.

So i guess that is the same kind of cross over here.

one dont have anything to do with the other, and they mix just because, or because the crack and pot parties they have.

I still resent booyakasha replacing Cowabunga. Even if Cowabunga would be feel dated.
Hell, that was the ONE thing about the crappy 2014 movie I liked was the cowabunga line at the end, since they managed to actually make it work without sounding ridiculous.

Ah well. Mikey's the weakest of the 4 turtles this go around anyways.

According to an interview with an executive producer, it wasn't exactly changed because cowabunga was dated. There were talks about if cowabunga should be changed or not and what would it be if it even was changed, so it sounds more like they were considering whether or not to reinvent Mikey's catchphrase in the same sense all shows and such being rebooted have their elements evaluated to see what should be kept and what should be reimagined. Mikey's VA just said "booyakasha" during one recording that had some execs there, they liked it and it just caught on, and so they ended up keeping it.

Yeah, here's the thing: All those shows are commercial. All of them were produced to be merchandised. That's how the entire industry works.

MLP is different, though, in the sense that it already had a toyline before the series began; on the other hand, all these other shows were produced in the hope that they would become popular enough to get their own toylines. It's the same model, but backwards.

There's no reason why you can't tell a good story AND be commercial. Pretty much all popular entertainment is built on doing both.

Steven Universe, for instance, is getting a bunch of merchandise this year, and already has some tshirts and comics out.
>> No. 36792656
>>36792655
but at least doing it backwards is easier.

sure, everything on the universe is done just to sell stuff.

But when i see Steven getting his mothers room is because they have a plan or just want to show it, not because we need a playset.

While i see the giant crystal castle of twilight, i know is there just because you need a giant playset, the same to why twilight is a princess, just because the toys.

To me it start looking like the Merch drive the show, instead of the other way around, and i could try to give the benefit of the doubt, but Equestria Girls pretty much showed me that there is no priority on the show over plastic.

maybe on steven universe and gravity falls they will start changing stuff if they want to sell some toys... (even that is unprobable because most of the toys are done under a license instead of being the studios prodicing them)
and they are not going to throw stuff in the show because they are selling Tshirts.

but with hasbro, it started with that since day one, and then it take more priority.

they could pretend they have plans for alot of the stuff comming. but in reality to me it feels like they have to sell all thouse playsets, and they have to look for excuses to justify the toys.

I dont know if i can explain why doing the process backwards is a huge difference.

and i dont want to sound anti products....
but when is more important than the story or the message...
is harder to get exited about stuff when i know the only reason it exist is because toys and nothing else.

The main difference is MLP was conceived as a toy brand from the start, while Steven Universe began life as a creator-driven TV concept.
