I am trying my hand at a Shining Armor theme.
I blame Fenolio for this.

Thing is, I haven't done stylesheets in a long time, and I'm re-learning as I go. It's ludicrously incomplete at the moment, but I'm continuing on it.

Follow my bumbling around and trying to re-learn CSS and create a theme worthy of BBBFF and best royal guard in this thread.

Redux. I don't think I have any idea what I'm doing.

Kinda wrapped up in working on my own style but any problems? For what its worth I was a bit confused at first by the way we were supposed to test this all out. I'm still taking Web Design courses right now so I'm used to just hosting all the necessary files (html, css, images, etc.) on a hosting service myself and showing it off.

Right now I'm just testing by having saved a copy of the contest thread and replacing the colgate.css file with the one I'm working with now. That's really my problem more than anything, file organization. Well that and background patterns.

That's what I'm doing too, but it seems to be derping in most browsers I've tried.

Hmm, have you made sure to remove the colgate.css when attaching your own? Also I highly doubt it since it just seems to be basic colors and a background image but what browsers are you using? Again irrelevant, even the craptastic IE browsers can do something basic but you never know.

That's okay, I was the same way when I started. Once you get the hang of it, it's pretty easy. Do you have Adobe Dreamweaver?

Also, I am not much of a pro at CSS either, but for beginners, I would suggest working on keeping Readability at its top priority.

I also noticed that !!Lyra put up colgate.css, yet didn't put up img_global.css, which has the rest of the tags I recommend you take a look at. And for some reason, isn't letting me post it here so I'll give you it in pastebin.

Good Luck!

Yes, I did. And I've tried it in Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer Fuck that program..

oh, thank you so much! I really just downloaded the entire thread, which included the img_global.css. I hadn't had the opportunity to take a look at it yet, though.

Ah IE, the bane of every web designer.

"Rounded corners? Ha what is this, UNICEF? Drop shadows? Stop asking for handouts hippie."

And yeah definitely check the img_global.css, a couple of css rules you need are already there, such as the blotter area the admin and mods are asking for.

Yeah, Internet Explorer is pretty shitty. In fact, did you know that it never even had full support of CSS3 until the latest version for Windows 8 came out? CSS3 is over 12 years old and does what is considered even the most basic of web browsing. Yeah, it's pretty sad.
