Anyone have any cool ambient or drone or even noise albums or artists they care to share?

Bonus points for not the same old Helios, Merzbow, or Hanatarash releases that get posted a lot.

As for ambient, I know a few good websites:

Here's an interesting noise/power electronics bandcamp:

Cluster – Cluster (1971, V0, Brain)
>First release by band under this incarnation, fourth release overall. Midway point between the extremely dense soundscapes of Kluster and the more rock-influenced Cluster II, very interesting early ambient album. Highly influential on ambient, drone, and industrial music, instrumentation includes a Hawaiian guitar, a couple of organs, and electronically treated cello. Superb example of the avant-garde electronic side of Krautrock.!RsAWzKaR!fiS5oEtWKwpHKuDrAne8EQkP344wEaPPLzw7cEbQazw

Cluster – Cluster II (1972, V0, Brain)
>Dronier, harsher, more hypnotic, and more depressing than the first Cluster album, this release finds the first iteration of Cluster at its creative peak, complete with gorgeous soundscapes and haunting, otherworldly noises. Synthesizers play a larger role here, foreshadowing the Cluster’s later work. Conny Plank’s studio touch can be found all over this album. Simply fantastic, the most highly recommended of all of Cluster’s works.!0sYiGSpa!ZrWOeU0ySaMf_IbSE7He6wl9jm0rNNH_diZ3MGkNabE

Cluster – Zuckerzeit (1974, 320, Brain)
>Cluster’s third album finds them going in a completely different direction, creating what just might be the first true synthpop album in existence. Synth melodies appear in the first fifteen seconds of any given song, and then are expanded and built upon. Kraftwerk gets all the credit for this type of electronic krautrock, but this album’s just as fantastic as anything they put out. Influential on Aphex Twin, The Orb, and Depeche Mode. Interesting use of drum machines, too.!t5gUnQRB!Nd3h8X-AAI99mEllhdASuDv2OeBqqE0LPgZ4J5FzYkw

Cluster – Soweisoso (1976, V0, Brain)
>The pop songs on Zuckerzeit find themselves extended out and made more ambient and more New Age-y – more Popul Vuh than Kraftwerk. The last essential Cluster release in this style (before the band went truly ambient during its collaboration with Brian Eno) it offers a nice, accessible balance between the droney side of the band and the pop side of the band. Perfect for studying, reading, or focused listening, and the band possesses an acute sense of nostalgia on this album which helps distinguish it from its peers.!pxYwnaRI!eJy4kTixhoSWvFMWMfi2fDC7dvpL3DbbqRpQzW1Nh8s

The rest of the album actually isn't like that as much.
To me, this sounds too "serious" to sound like someone is being edgy. These people are genuine satanic worshippers, and these are actual satanic chants. This album was created in 1993, and it's the only album the artist ever put out. Nobody knows what happened to him after that (2pooky). But he pretty much invented Black Ambient. So I don't think it can be edgy if you're creating a new genre.

Oh shit he had TWO? I had no idea. I had heard he only had one. Still, I don't it's edgy if you genuinely believe what you're doing, and know what you're doing. If you notice, they are playing almost exclusively tri tones, which is called the devil's tone. I'm not sure some random edgy metal project (actually, this isn't even metal, so you can't call it that anyway) would catch that detail. I think they would be more inclined to mash minor power chords. I think that's what I like about this album. It's satanic ambient that isn't filled loud guitar sounds and a shit ton of screaming (there is screaming in this of course, but it's not constant). It seems, how do I put in, genuine?

"Coming out hot on the heels of The Inventors Of Aircraft, is a full length release from Japanese ambient/drone artist, Yoshito Murakami. Like Japan itself, and like nature and it’s seasons as well that have inspired this music…beneath the conceptualized beauty and melodies there is always an unforgiving inner truth, and industrial reality. Koji Asano - The Last Shade of Evening Falls (2000)
>21st century classical, electro-acoustic, drone
"The Last Shade of Evening Falls" is a monolithic electroacoustic drone work totaling 260 minutes in length, split in four movements. The mood ranges from haunting to beautiful. It's one of my personal favorite electroacoustic albums.
It is based on processed violin and contrabass saxophone. The processing gives it a very grainy, warm tone. The mood ranges from haunting to quite beautiful. It's one of my personal favorite electroacoustic albums.
"The Last Shade of Evening Falls 1/4", probably my favorite part, is very thick and warm. The way the violin and saxophone play off each other is beautiful.
"The Last Shade of Evening Falls 2/4" opens up with a very eerie droning violin note and the saxophone gradually enters and mingles with the violin. About half-way through, the piece reaches it's crescendo with the two heavily processed instruments creating a buzzing atonal cacophony. It then gradually dies down until another mini-climax at the end.
"The Last Shade of Evening Falls 3/4" is the most dynamic of the four pieces. It opens with a loud, dissonant violin drone which eventually gives way to the saxophone which grumbles on for about half an hour before the violin returns. Near the end of the piece the two instruments really start to interlock, creating an impenetrable noise rhythm that repeats itself until the piece ends.
"The Last Shade of Evening Falls 4/4" is the final piece. It is not as dissonant as the two middle pieces and is more similar to the opener, but with a more grandiose tone.!tpc2BYIJ!cIxpmDsS5Rw1BrFgMaPd53WrJ0t7MkWUMhyRR22Y8ws

Yannis Kyriakides - Antichamber (2010)
>21st century classical, electro-acoustic, minimalism
Yannis Kyriakides is a genius composer. His compositions are masterpieces of 21st century classical music. This 2-Disc album collects 10 of his compositions, each averaging around 15 minutes in length.
One thing Kyriakides is proficient is textures - and boy do the textures shine on this album, especially on the enclosed sample. The live electronics really enhance the music, making it more textureful, turning what would be somewhat interesting minimalist pieces into electro-acoustic masterpieces. If you're expecting some sort of Stockhausian electro-acoustic nightmare, don’t fret - this is some beautiful stuff.
Highlights include “Telegraphic” for flute, cello, trombone, synth, bass clarinet, contrabass, telegraphic keys, & amplification, a very polyrhythmic minimalist piece; “Chaoids” for alto saxophone, violin, & vibraphone, a theme which repeats itself, gradually growing more and more dissonant as it goes along, reminiscent of free jazz; and “Pneuma” for bassoon, cello, & piano, a jazzy piece in which the basoon and piano play off each-other beautifully.!koVnQJpb!YX8wRVcLHw_osUpfBrfQFmhmObQGs2_0nXxiCjHNo9s

One of the earliest ambient electronic works made in the krautrock era. Made with the second Big Moog to ever be in Germany. You can imagine. Very majestic, way too much ahead of it's time.

Popol Vuh - Hosianna Mantra (1972) [VBR V0]

One of the most beautiful and unique compositions I've ever heard. Basically free compositions for the piano accompanied by guitar and a Korean soprano with minimalistic orchestration. Eastern sounds evoking western religious themes.

I haven't listened to a lot of ambient or drone, but I fucking love this album:

Eric Fourman - Vision

Ambient with some singer/songwriter influences, extremely good. He is also a painter and paints his own album art. You guys need this if you like calming, relaxing music.

Films - "A Forbidden Garden"

I guess this album is sort of ambient with neo-classical and post-rock influences, but I haven't listen to it yet. I do like the artwork for it, though.

Also, this is from the same label that released Anoice's "Black Rain" last year, which was pretty good so I have hopes this will be pretty good, too.

This dude's been getting some good buzz on 420chan. One of the more popular musicians from that community.
Anyway, he makes some pretty cool drone and ambient music. He has other projects Dick Tree and Heroin Hobby that are pretty good. I'm honestly a bit of a fan of this dude.
